As usual, Sedaris's stories are hilarious and bizarre, but paying [$] for the cheap seats to watch a guy read from a podium? You could buy all of his books for that. It's not a PERFORMANCE exactly worthy of such a grand, ornate theater setting as the Providence Performing Arts Center. He also interrupted the stories for an unmoving and crass plea to buy another performer's books and tapes. "Buy them all. They're SO great." Otherwise, this "lecture" was an extended and shameless advertisement for Sedaris's books. Theatergoers, I think, deserve a bit more for their money and trouble.

Took my husband who is a real fan. I now want to read his books!

Seats were wonderful, and David Sedaris was terrific. We were close enough to se him chuckling at his own material and revising it. He stayed for two hours after the performance to sign books and talk to fans.
The show was great. The gauging I took on the tickets was not. [...]
