After watching Alegria some years ago, Saltimbanco was a big disappointment. Saltimbanco had very few talented acts with most of the time filled-in by groups of clowns. Overall it was disjointed, incoherent and, apart from the very good mime, not up to Cirque's standard and certainly not worth the price of the tickets.
After seeing previous shows I was dissapointed with Saltimbanco. The seating was the worst. It seems that Cirque is moving away from the tent setting. I will not see another show unless it is in a tent. I paid a decent amount of money for tickets and was too far away to truly enjoy the show. You were not able to enjoy everything that the tent environment offers; the details of the costumes, the face painting, the interaction and eye contact. These are all things that define the Cirque experience and make it so enjoyable and memorable. Previous shows, such as Corteo, tell a story and keep you involved as a 30 year old you felt like a child in a whimsical dream. Saltimbanco lacked a story line and although there are very talented performers it seemed like nothing more than a fancy circus without the animals. I would like to see Cirque du Soleil wow everyone next time around and bring the tent and wonderful story lines back to the experience and I will purchase a more expensive ticket than I did last time. Only then would it be worth while.
I've been to three other Cirque performances and was hugely disappointed by this one. The setting was in an arena, too big for a Cirque performance, not up close and personal as it should be. The spot lights pointed into the audience was very bothersome. I didn't appreciate being blinded thoughout the night. It took away from the performance. There were too many two people segments and not enough acrobatics as compared to other shows. I wasn't wowed at all. Not worth the money.
ughhh...was very excited to see this show last night and ended up leaving very disapointed. Granted yes, there were some good acts and some pretty neat stuff overall the majority of the night is less than impressive. The first act was really lacking. Unless you are the type that is super impressed by bike riding stunts, juggling, and two people twirling peices of rope with a ball on the end around...Just not impressive. I have heard about other cirque shows people have seen in vegas and this was a major let down to those stories. [...]
