Charlotte Hornets Basketball Tickets

Relative newcomers, the Charlotte Hornets (formerly the Charlotte Bobcats) are an expansion team that were established in 2004 after the state’s prior team, now the New Orleans Pelicans, relocated to Louisiana. While the Hornets lost their first game to the Washington Wizards, they triumphed two days later by taking down the Orlando Magic. Still in its infancy, the team is rapidly earning its stripes and the hometown’s heart. Charlotte Hornets tickets are quickly becoming sought after and hard found.

The NBA newcomers do not have the impressive history of many of the more famous franchises, but that hasn’t stopped them from cultivating a loyal fan following. The team is rightly considered a squad on the rise, and anybody who picks up Charlotte Hornets tickets will quickly find out why.

The Charlotte Hornets have an interesting ownership history. A plethora of groups, including one headed by former Boston Celtics’ player Larry Bird, made a play for the Hornets, as well as Robert Johnson, who is noted as being among the first well-known African Americans to own a U.S. professional sports team. Eventually, it was a group headed by the founder of BET that was awarded the team, along with co-owner Nelly. In 2010 a group headed by former Chicago Bulls’ legend Michael Jordan acquired the Charlotte Hornets.

Charlotte emerged on the NBA scene in 2004, and their early seasons were admittedly difficult. Though they had the star power of players such as Gerald Wallace and former University of Connecticut standout Emeka Okafor, they struggled as an expansion team. Despite the challenges of being a new team, the Hornets continued to draw fans that were rewarded for their loyalty several years later.

The 2009-10 season was a big one for the Hornets. Led by Tyson Chandler, Acie Law and Gerald Henderson, Charlotte compiled a respectable 44-38 regular season record to advance to the playoffs for the first time in team history. Although they made a first round exit, it was a big step forward for the young franchise. With many young players and a passionate fan base, it’s only a matter of time before they are a regular contender.

Time will tell if this Eastern Conference franchise will deliver a sting as powerful as the insect they are named after. Fans dole out positive reviews of the game experience. Swing on by Time Warner Cable Arena and cheer the Charlotte Hornets on to victory. Get the experience of a lifetime when you purchase your Charlotte Hornets tickets today!
