Ticket prices where way too high. Loved the acting and costumes.
I took my Mom for her birthday, as Camelot is her favorite movie of all time. We both thought the play was just amazing. Lou Diamond Phillips was the perfect King Arthur. We both cried like babies at the end of the play. Very touching and a joy to see.
Sorry to report, Lou Diamond Phillips, who worked vey hard, was badly miscast and just didn’t have the voice or chops for a great King Arthur. Sir Lancelot (Matt Bogart) the cute boy toy knight lacked the stature and masculinity called for in the roll. Guinevere (Rachel de Benedet) was a Guinevere for the ages, but the production labored lacking two sides of the triangle. Orchestra sounded great, but could have added the sound of more violins. Merlin’s magic forest was pathetic. While the autumn muted colors work very well for the castle interiors no effort was made in the exterior areas period. Guys, it’s a fairy tale. Haven’t they heard of lighting and special effects? Did anyone think, for example--when they dropped the fishnet down for Merlin’s Magic Forest--to making it a rich green instead of the sickly puke? When Merlin is drawn into the cave of Nimue for his eternal sleep ("Follow Me") imaginative lighting and special effects were painfully absent. Oh! I loved the evening. We’re lucky to get to see this wonderful show at all even at this level.
We enjoyed the evening. Camelot is one of my favorite shows that I have seen many times. This probably wasn't my favorite production, but I thought Michael York and Rachel York were wonderful. (Lancelot was a bit disappointing.
