Bumbershoot Tickets

Bumbershoot, originally called Festival '71, then Festival '72, didn’t earn its current name until 1973. "Bumbershoot" isn't a made up word. In fact, the prefix "umber" refers to umbrella, and "shoot" is derived from parachute. So why name the festival after an umbrella/parachute hybrid? It describes the umbrella of diverse artists and performers you'll get to see at this year's Bumbershoot festival! Don't miss out; buy your Bumbershoot tickets now!

Bumbershoot Festival Tickets

The annual Bumbershoot Festival held in Seattle, Washington, brings the top names in indie, alternative and electronic music together on one stage. Held at the Seattle Center, Bumbershoot tickets will also give fans an opportunity to check out comedy shows, theater, dance performances, films and documentaries, crafts, visual arts and literary shows.

2013 marks the festival's 41st year of existence. Bumbershoot typically runs from late August through early September, with the show's lineup being announced in May, but fans looking to figure out if getting tickets is worth it can check out what groups have rocked the stage in years past.

Major artists like Jane's Addiction, Tony Bennett, Skrillex, Gotye, M83, Big Sean, Mac Miller, Keane, Passion Pit, Best Coast and Lights From Space all performed. Comedians including Fred Armisen, Brian Posehn, Nick Swardson and Doug Benson also made event-goers laugh with their routines during the festival in 2012.

Thinking of bringing the kids? Bumbershoot features a kid-friendly "youngershoot." Many artists at last year's event were perfect for youngsters, including Missy Higgins, The Jayhawks, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings as well as LP, Damien Jurado and the Rebirth Brass Band.
