Beach Boys in Rockland County, NY
By moondog from Eastchester, NY on 4/28/2014
Best For:

I did enjoy the concert and they sounded OK, they need to have Brian and Al back to have that quality Beach Boys sound. I would attend another Beach Boys concert only if Brian and Al were there and not the imitations Beach Boys.

Beach Boys Concert Tickets

Synonymous with the 1960s and rock music, the Beach Boys are one of the most iconic bands produced during the era. With a laid-back style incorporating multi-layered harmonies, the boys exuded Southern California surf culture. Considered one of the few bands to give the Beatles a run for their money, fans clamor for the Beach Boys tickets from coast to coast.

The Beach Boys formed in 1961, when lead singer Brian Wilson - then just in his teens - teamed up with several other musicians, including his brothers. Nepotism ruled the pop group made up of three brothers, Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson; a cousin Mike Love; and buddy Al Jardine. The band’s 1963 release, "Surfin’ USA" hit number two on the charts and went Gold soon after. It wasn't long before their unique brand of surf-inspired songs attracted a loyal fan base, and by 1965, hits including "Surfin' Safari" and "I Get Around," helped them become one of the most popular bands in the country.

Colt classics continued to roll out with “California Girls,” “Help Me, Rhonda” and “Barbara Ann” yet, with internal strife and the coming and going of Brian Wilson, the stability of the band faltered. At one point country music star Glen Campbell stepped in to replace Wilson. Despite some turbulence experienced over the years, the Beach Boys didn't let it stand in the way of success and remain a touring force to be reckoned with.

Although they had achieved a lot in a relatively short time, it was nothing compared to what the Beach Boys accomplished with Pet Sounds, their seminal 1966 album. Regarded as a masterpiece, the record featured songs including "Wouldn't It Be Nice" and "God Only Knows," both of which are staples of radio play almost 50 years later.

Throughout the years, the group’s sound continued to evolve moving from prom pop to psychedelic, garnering more attention and fans as they went. Albums like Pet Sounds and Good Vibrations, as well as the rumor of Smile, established the band as an evolutionary force in the music world. Whether through their older songs or more contemporary releases such as the No. 1 hit "Kokomo," the Beach Boys have established a permanent place in the pantheon of legendary rock bands.

Of all the American rock bands to form in the 1960s, few had the impact of the Beach Boys. What began as a fun-loving band with a penchant for surfing and cruising soon grew into a group that crafted many of the most complex harmonies and songs of an era that had plenty. Regardless of the turbulence experienced over the years, The Beach Boys remain a touring force to be reckoned with. Whether you remember them from your youth or are experiencing them for the first time, a LIVE Beach Boys performance is an experienced not to be missed! Buy your Beach Boys tickets now!
