Bastille Concert Tickets

Formed in 2010, in London, Bastille began as singer/songwriter Dan Smith’s solo project, before forming a six-piece band, complete with a violinist and cellist. The band’s name is derived from Bastille Day, which coincides with Smith’s birthday. Today Bastille is made up of four members, including Dan Smith, Chris Wood, William Farquarson and Kyle Simmons.

The four piece London band Bastille, often stylized in all caps, is known internationally for their modern synth pop sound. The final foursome gained a fan following with their second single “Bad Blood,” gaining popularity in the UK, and making their way onto the US charts with their fourth single, “Pompeii.”

Like many modern bands, Bastille began releasing songs online and soon thereafter garnered a fan base. After playing several festivals, the band signed with the Young and Lost Club label. Later, after signing to Virgin Records in late 2010, the band released their first single, “Overjoyed,” only to receive moderate success. In 2011, they dropped the EP Laura Palmer, named after the character from the cult television show “Twin Peaks.” Their later title-track, “Bad Blood,” followed suit. “Flaws,” the third track taken from their studio album, Bad Blood, was the group’s first to enter the Top 40.

By 2013, the band released “Pompeii,” charting No. 2 in the UK, and No. 10 in the US. That same year, the band released their debut album, Bad Blood. When the album’s fifth single off the album, “Laura Palmer,” dropped in June 2013, the album reached new heights.

Following the success of Bad Blood, the band joined Muse as a supporting act on their 2013 tour, The 2nd Law Tour. In the spring of 2013, the band released their Haunt EP on iTunes. “Things We Lost in the Fire,” the sixth and final single from the band’s debut album, also gained popularity on iTunes.

“Of the Night,” the mash-up of “The Rhythm of the Night” and “Rhythm Is a Dancer,” reached No. 2 on the UK singles chart, and boosted sales on the reissue of their debut album in November 2013. In 2014, Bastille won the Brit Award for Best Breakthrough Act and a nomination for British Album of the Year.
