Born in 1941, Garfunkel’s love affair with music began at the tender age of 4. His father, a traveling salesman, brought home a wire recorder that provided countless hours of entertainment for the young Garfunkel. Later, he began performing at school talent shows with his close friend Paul Simon. Years of practicing and dedication paid off when their demo recording landed the duo their first contract.

In 1962, they signed with Columbia Records and began a tireless production of studio recordings while also performing on the road. From 1964 to 1970, the pair recorded some of the most iconic songs of their generation, such as "Sounds Of Silence" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
