Philadelphia Eagles Tickets

The Philadelphia Eagles are members of the Eastern Division of the National Football Conference in the NFL. They were established in 1933 after the Frankford Yellow Jackets went bankrupt halfway through the 1931 season. They didn’t explode on the scene because their first decade in the NFL was plagued by a number of losing seasons. During the 1940’s, manpower was short due to World War II and the Eagles were forced to temporarily merge with the Pittsburgh Steelers forming the “Phil-Pitt Steagles.”

At the end of the 1943 season, the team was once again split. By the end of the 1940’s, the team had appeared in three back-to-back NFL Championship Games, thanks to the help of head coach Earle “Greasy” Neale and running back Steve Van Buren. Out of the three appearances, the Philadelphia Eagles won two Championships in 1948 and 1949. They are the only team to have won back to back Championship games by shutout, defeating both the Chicago Cardinals (7-0) and the Los Angeles Rams (14-0).

Their next NFL Championship came in 1960 under head coach Buck Shaw, Norm Van Brocklin and Chuck Bednarik. The 1970’s brought the merge between the NFL and the AFL, putting the Eagles in the NFC East Division with their rivals the New York Giants. The team would struggle through most of the 70’s and into the 80’s without much to show for it. During this time the team lost a lot of its fan base, and it was only in 1986 with the arrival of Buddy Ryan that the team began to rebuild. The Eagles qualified for six out of the nine seasons during the late 80’s to mid 90’s but it only resulted in one NFC East title. During the time, names like Randall Cunningham and Keith Jackson made up the offense and Reggie White, Jerome Brown, Seth Joyner and Byron Evans consisted of the defense.

The next big move for the Philadelphia Eagles occured when they hired new head coach, Andy Reid, for the 1999 season. Reid’s first move was drafting quarterback Donovan McNabb. This was considered by many to be the key moment in improving the Eagles team as a whole. Since 2000, the Eagles made playoff appearances numerous times. They placed in the NFC East game and in four consecutive Conference Championship games from 2001-2004. During the 2004 season, the Eagles finally made it to the Super Bowl (XXXIX) where they nearly won against the Philadelphia Eagles with a final score of 24-21. They returned to the playoffs again in 2006, giving Coach Reid and the Eagles their fifth NFC East title. With their recent victories up their sleeve, the team is sure to sell Eagles tickets faster than they ever have before.

Since their inception into the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles team colors have been Kelly green, silver and white. They have featured a number of designs and logos including a full out green eagle, an eagle with the team name above it and just the eagle’s head. The Eagles have also been a part of many charitable organizations from the Ronald McDonald Houses to the Eagles Youth Partnership. In the 70’s, tight end Fred Hill’s daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia. During this time, the Eagles held fundraising dinners and made contributions to the family to help, which led to the successful treatment of Kim Hill. After realizing that it would not have happened without the help and support of his team members, Fred Hill decided to reach out and help other families battling the same disease. In 1972, Leonard Tose, owner of the Philadelphia Eagles, officially recognized these donations of time and money as the "Eagles Fly for Leukemia." It became the official philanthropy of the Eagles Football club.
