New England Patriots Tickets

The New England Patriots are members of the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference in the NFL. The team was established in 1959 in the greater Boston area and currently play home games in Foxborough, Massachusetts. They were originally known as the Boston Patriots. The AFL and the NFL merged in 1970, and the following year the Patriots moved to Foxborough.

The early years for the Patriots saw the most struggle. The Patriots didn’t have the same stadium to play their home games in and adjusting to the different fields (Nickerson Field, Harvard Stadium, Fenway Park and Alumni Stadium) became difficult. The Patriots appeared in the AFL East Championship in 1963, but lost to the San Diego Chargers with a score of 51-10. They would not reappear in the post-season again for another 13 years.

After the AFL and NFL merge in 1970, the Patriots became members of the AFC East Division. Following the merge, the Patriots moved to Foxboro Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts where they would remain for the next 30 years. They would make it to the playoffs in 1976 as a wild card berth, but would not make it any further than the first game. In 1978, they became the AFC East Champions, but did not make it past their division.

The 1980’s held more success for the budding Patriots, sending them all the way to Super Bowl XX against the Chicago Bears. This was further than they had gotten in many years , but they lost with a score of 46-10. They returned to the playoffs in 1986, but only got as far as a Division Championship. After a couple changes in ownership and a change to head coach Bill Parcells, the team underwent a drastic uniform and performance overhaul in the 90’s. Parcells led the team to two playoff appearances, one leading to Super Bowl XXXI in 1996 where they lost to the Green Bay Packers with a score of 35-21.

The New England Patriots are currently coached by Bill Belichick, who was hired in 2000, and are playing on a new home stadium called Gillette Stadium which opened in 2002. The new year brought luck and skill to the team, who went on to win three Super Bowl Championships (2001 XXXVI, 2003 XXXVIII and 2004 XXXIX). The Patriots’ record from the end of the 2007 regular season was a perfect 16-0. They became the fifth team in league history to go undefeated during their regular season. In Super Bowl XLII, the Patriots played the New York Giants who ended the Patriots incredible 19-0 season.

The Patriots have had a number of incredible players grace the football field, including four Hall of Famers including Nick Buoniconti, John Hannah, Mike Haynes and Andre Tippett. The team has also inducted players into the Patriots’ Hall of Fame from Steve Grogan and Babe Parilli to Stanley Morgan and Andre Tippett. There have been seven Patriots players whose numbers retired including Gino Cappelletti (20), Mike Haynes (40), Steve Nelson (57), John Hannah (73), Bruce Armstrong (78), Jim Lee Hunt (79) and Bob Dee (89). The Patriots long-term success has led to several seasons of sold-out Patriots tickets.

One of the Patriots’ traditions is to have 10 men dressed as minutemen lining the end of each end zone. If the Patriots score a touchdown or field goal, the opposite end fires a round of blanks from their flintlock muskets. The point-after-touchdown is followed by the minutemen firing their guns to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.
