In 1967, when the NHL decided to expand and add six more teams, the Philadelphia Flyers were born. From the beginning the Flyers had a rough go at it, often being physically outmatched by the brawn of their opponents. By 1972 the team had found a fondness for rough play and fighting on the ice to help close the gap on their physical stature issues. If physical play on the ice slaps your puck, Philadelphia Flyers tickets are right up your alley.
In the 1972-73 season, the moniker the Broad Street Bullies was given to the team by fans. 1974 saw the Flyers be the first of the 1967 expansion teams to snag a Stanley Cup win. The team took home the prestigious honor again the following season. Mounting success and rough play saw rivalries blossom with the New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils and in-state opponents the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Keeping up the appearance as a formidable adversary, the Flyers hold the bragging rights to the most semifinal, conference final as well as the most playoff appearances of any of the 1967 expansion teams.
