Established in 1974, the New Jersey Devils began their existence as a NHL expansion team in Kansas City, Missouri, called the Kansas City Scouts. Then the Scouts, they played their initial match against the Toronto Maple Leafs, which they lost. Within just a few short years the team moved west and got a new start as the Colorado Rockies. The team was sold after a few years and moved to the East coast where they would become the New Jersey Devils.
Named from the legend of the Jersey Devil, a creature that supposedly inhabits the Pine Barrens of South Jersey, the Devils play their home games on the ice at Prudential Center located in Newark, New Jersey. A step up from their past, the team's first game against the Pittsburgh Penguins resulted in a 3-3 draw. Settled into their new home, the Devils would now be coming up against forces like the New York Islanders and the New York Rangers on a regular basis.
Once the new team found their footing, they were relentless, having earned over a dozen Division and Conference titles as well as Stanley Cup Final victories. A proven powerhouse on the ice and in the hearts of fans, New Jersey Devils tickets are a must for hockey lovers and nonfans alike. |
