Since their arrival in 1997, the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes have become one of the brightest lights on the North Carolina sports landscape.
After relocating from Hartford, CT, the team took residence at the Greensboro Coliseum for two years before moving into their permanent digs, the PNC Arena in Raleigh. The team claimed Southeast Division titles in 1999 and 2002, as well as an Eastern Conference championship in 2002 before winning hockey's ultimate prize, the Stanley Cup, in 2006. For good measure, the Hurricanes threw in a run to the 2009 Eastern Conference Finals, making them one of just four NHL teams to make the conference finals three times in the first decade of the 2000s.
The Hurricanes count division rivals Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals and Winnipeg Jets among its fiercest rivals, along with conference foes like the Buffalo Sabres, New Jersey Devils and Pittsburgh Penguins.
For diehards looking to scratch their hockey itch, or for the casual sports fan in search of a new experience, Hurricanes' games at PNC Arena fit the bill. You'll know when you go!
