In 1946, the Atlanta Hawks were originally known as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks based in present day Quad Cities of Illinois. In 1951, the team relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and became known as simply “the Hawks.” During this time period, the Hawks were one of the NBA’s worst basketball teams. They finally moved to St. Louis, Missouri where they were named the St. Louis Hawks. With young players and new surroundings, the team eventually became one of the most feared basketball contenders in the league. In 1968, the Hawks relocated to their present day location, Atlanta, Georgia and became the Atlanta Hawks. The team has earned 14 division titles, four conference titles and one Championship in 1958.
