Motley Crue
Motley Crue may have formed in 1981, but seventeen years later they are rocking harder than ever. With a newly announced tour, fans young and old can once again experience one of the most exciting live bands of the last twenty years with Motley Crue tickets of their very own.
What began as a couple of friends playing together in Los Angeles in 1981 would turn into a worldwide phenomenon that would sell over 40 million records world wide. Started by Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee, Motley Crue originated as a mish mash of musicians all coming together for their common passion for music. Original guitar contributor Greg Leon was quickly replaced with Robert "Mick Mars" Deal and was followed soon after by vocalist Vince Neil (known by Tommy Lee from their days at LA area high school Royal Oak. Neil at first refused Motley Crue's offer, but accepted later as his current band, Rock Candy, disbanded). With their line up and name Motley Crue in place, the foursome set out to bring their band of heavy metal to the world.
After the release of Motley Crue's first album, Too Fast for Love, the band set off for a tour in Canada. Motley Crue left quite and impression in Canada that was exacerbated by the entire band's arrest at an Edmonton airport for wearing their spiked stage costumes through Customs. This was followed by a bomb threat against the band. Both events turned out to be publicity stunts orchestrated by Motley Crue's manager. That success, paired with their notoriety in LA, led Motley Crue to sign a deal with Elektra Records in 1982.
The 1980's saw Motley Crue catapult to fame in the US. The band's stage antics and open use of drugs and alcohol frequently had them in the news. Most notable being Vince Neil's car crash that killed a friend and fellow musician. During this time Motley Crue released three albums, Shout at the Devil, Theatre of Pain and Girls, Girls, Girls. The 1980's ended for Motley Crue on an incredibly strong note with a sober band releasing their biggest commercial success Dr. Feelgood.
The success of the 80's led to a decade's worth of fights, break ups and declining record sales that led to the eventually reunited Motley Crue in 1997 and the release of Generation Swine. Though they did not have the success they showed earlier, Motley Crue was back and ready to rock once again. The group released Saints of Los Angeles on June 24, 2008 and announced a full tour only months later.
