Reviews BB King Ottawa Ontario Canada May 27, 20 By Jeff the bass guy from Ottawa Ontario Canada on 5/28/2012 Pros: Good venue National Arts, Great performer, Super back-up musicians BB never fails to impress. At age 86 he has defineately slowed down physically but he is still the ultimate performer. His guitar playing was great, however, it was just a few licks here and there but distinctively BB. You can tell his fingers have seen better days. His voice however is still top notch. He show cased his back-up band at every opportunity which demonstrates the tightness of this little group of musicians. We have become accustomed to "canned" electronic music at most concerts. Not here. Real musicians, playing real instruments in real time. Doesn't get any better than that.
I read some reviews of this tour from other sources and there is a common complaint about the fact that talked a lot and didn't do much performing. Come on people, his presence in the venue is a performance in itself. Master story teller and interaction with the crowd. Here in Ottawa last night the end of the show saw his handlers come out to assist him off stage. BB as the true performer stayed around, invited the crowd to gather round especially the kids in the house, signed autographs, sat for pictures with fans and generally conversed with the crowd.
While I admit this performace was different from those of his I have seen in the past, he still garners respect from the crowd of true fans. I feel honored to be in attendance last night. The last of one of the true greats made his mark once again. Definately worth the price of admission.
Best wihes BB, only you will determine when it is time to slow down, which I hope is a long way off in the future.
No music, only genuflecting By Silky from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on 5/28/2012 Pros: Still got pipes Cons: Never finished one song, Played less than 1 hour, Way too much chatter Don't waste your money unless you just want to see him and not hear him sing. Of course you can hear him banter to the audience for the hour he's on stage. So he deserves respect for his lifetime in the blues but he never finished a complete song and my guess is he only started 4. He doesn't deserve my hundred bucks for that. Band too over-powering.
Embarassing, felt sorry for BB, don't go By Disillusioned from mpls, mn on 5/18/2012 Cons: BB can't play guitar, Deliberate lack of effort, Humiliating for BB, Wasted money The mpls show was a disaster, I know he is 86 but he didn't even try - felt he was mocking the audience, I now have no respect for the man.
less than 1 star By j from macon, ga. on 1/8/2012 For what it is worth: b b king 12/31/11 at macon city auditorium was the most disappointing concert I have ever attended. I hope this performance was not the show that is the norm.
