Championships
The Texans were formed as an expansion franchise in 2002, and have yet to make it to the Playoffs.

History
The Houston Texans were initially a second option for Texas, given that Bob McNair was looking to bring an NHL team to Houston. There had already been one football team in Houston. The Tennessee Titans began their franchise in 1960 as the Houston Oilers, but moved to Tennessee in 1997. When efforts to bring in a hockey team failed, McNair’s only option to bring a sport to Houston was to buy an already existing franchise and move it to the Houston area. During the time, there was already a push to expand the NFL to 32 teams, which would require the creation of an expansion team. Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officials announced they would be pushing for a domed stadium as part of the bid to bring the NFL back to the Houston area. On October 6, 1999, NFL owners unanimously voted to award the 32nd franchise to Houston.

Games began in 2002 for the newly formed Houston Texans. Their first game, against the Dallas Cowboys at Reliant Stadium made the Houston Texans the second team to win their first game. However, the start of the season was no indication of the future of their first season. The Texans ended with a 4-12 record. The next two seasons saw the Texans making steady progress. They became the first team to win the season opener in their first two seasons. They finished the 2004 season with an 8-8 record, making it the only season the Texans did not finish last in the AFC South. By 2005, the Texans had fired Head Coach Dom Capers and most of his staff, with the exception of General Manager Charley Casserly. Their best season was in 2007 with a .500 record for the first time, and the Texans are making the slow progress towards Playoff contention.

With more experience behind them at every game, the Houston Texans are the team to see. Houston Texans tickets are slowly becoming a hot ticket item, and you will want to be there from start to finish this season. Get your Houston Texans tickets to see just how far this expansion franchise can go.
