Eminem is infamous for many things: explicit lyrics, feuds with other musical artists (especially Moby and Christina Aguilera) as well as a general disregard for the opinions of those around him, to name a few. Documenting his childhood, rise to fame, personal struggles and affinity for illegal substances, the movie was nominated for and won a host of awards.

Eminem’s music and lyrics evoke powerful, expressive reactions with long-form raps that are liquid, flowing seamlessly from thought to thought. It’s easy to see the influences of Dr. Dre and the Beastie Boys here, though the one thing you see little of is “The Real Slim Shady.” That was saved for Relapse, Eminem’s 2009 album release, in which the hip-hop artist debuted his sober self. Subsequent live concerts with Jay-Z in 2010 cemented Eminem’s relevance.

Mathers has performed live in concert with mentor Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and Limp Bizkit. The chainsaw wielding rapper doesn’t care about playing to concertgoers, letting his naturally sarcastic self seep through the drama of the venue. Eminem’s hold over his audience is undeniable.
