What was supposed to be a concert marking the end of Jay Z's creation of studio albums had performances by artists such as Missy Elliott, Beyonce, Ghostface Killah and Mary J. Blige. The retirement concert was also the basis for his feature film "Fade to Black". The album was inspired by the movie of the same name, but was not considered the official soundtrack. Jay Z himself has called the album "the indie-film version of American Gangster" as it portrays his life in comparison to the character Denzel Washington played in the movie. The number one status of this album on charts gave Jay Z the distinction of being tied with only Elvis Presley for the second most number one albums of all time. Once again on top of the hip hop mountain, Jay Z is hitting the road with R&B Superstar Mary J. Blige.
